These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the MindLift mobile application (the "App"). By installing or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
MindLift is a wellness and self-reflection app. It is not a medical device, not a healthcare provider, and not a substitute for professional medical, psychological, psychiatric, or mental health care.
The content in MindLift — including but not limited to breathwork techniques, meditation guidance, yoga sutras, Tamil Siddhar wisdom, Thirukkural verses, affirmations, mood tracking, AI-generated reflections, AI-generated translations of source-language verses, and the Wisdom Hub chatbot — is provided for educational, reflective, and inspirational purposes only.
Most of the App's wisdom content (verse translations, verse commentary, breathwork narratives, daily wisdom highlights, Wisdom Hub responses, reflection summaries) is generated by AI models from public-domain source texts. AI output may be incorrect, incomplete, biased, or culturally simplified. It is not authoritative scripture translation or scholarly commentary, and should be treated as starting material for personal reflection rather than a definitive rendering.
By using the App, you acknowledge that you have read this disclaimer and use the App at your own risk.
You must be at least 18 years old to use MindLift. By using the App, you represent that you meet this age requirement. We do not knowingly permit users under 18 to use the App.
MindLift is designed to be local-first. You do not create a password-protected account. On first launch we present a welcome form that asks for your name and email address (both required if you submit), and optionally your age range and gender. You can skip the form entirely. If you submit it, the values are sent to a Google Form / Google Sheet owned by the developer. Everything else — journals, mood logs, goals, notes, preferences — stays on your device. See the Privacy Policy for full details.
You are responsible for:
We are not in a position to recover your data if it is lost, because we do not store it on our servers.
Some features of MindLift are available without payment.
Premium features require a paid subscription. Available plans (subject to change):
A free trial may be offered. Trial terms are disclosed at the point of purchase.
Premium unlocks the following, in addition to everything available in the free tier:
Wisdom library
Practice library
Daily companion features
To keep the service sustainable, the AI-powered features above are offered under generous daily fair-use allowances rather than literal unlimited use. Each Premium subscriber receives, per day (resets at the subscriber’s local midnight):
If a daily allowance is reached, that category becomes available again at the next local-midnight reset. Your journal, notes, and history are never affected by these allowances. We may adjust the daily allowances over time; material changes will be communicated in-app or via these Terms.
Non-AI Premium features (wisdom library, practice library, themes, notification reminders, journal history, badges, widget) have no daily allowance and are available throughout your subscription.
Subscriptions are billed through Google Play (Android) or the Apple App Store (iOS) and are subject to their respective terms. Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Cancel through your device's store account.
Refund requests are handled by Google Play or Apple App Store. We are unable to issue refunds directly.
You agree NOT to:
The Wisdom Hub is powered by a third-party AI inference service. Important:
We make no warranty about the accuracy, completeness, or appropriateness of Wisdom Hub responses.
The App's design, code, AI-assisted commentary, AI-generated English translations of source-language verses, original audio recordings, and original artwork are the property of MindLift and protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.
You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes during the term of your subscription (or indefinitely for free-tier features that do not require a subscription).
The App includes content drawn from public-domain source texts — including but not limited to the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali (Sanskrit, ~400 BCE–500 CE), Thirukkural (Tamil, ~500 CE), the Tamil Siddhar corpora (Bogar 7000, Tirumantiram, Sivavakkiyam, Pambatti, Pattinathar, Bathrakiriaar, Thiruvarutpa of Vallalar, and other classical Siddhar works), Avvaiyar's Tamil aphorisms, and selected Vedic / Upanishadic affirmations. The original Sanskrit, Tamil, Pali, and other source-language texts are in the public domain.
The English translations, transliterations, explanations, and practical applications shown in the App are AI-generated by MindLift from those public-domain source texts, and are MindLift-original works. No prior copyrighted modern translation by Layne Little, Dr. B. Natarajan, B.K.S. Iyengar, Edwin Bryant, Bessel van der Kolk, Mantak Chia, Yogi Bhajan, or any other named modern translator was supplied to the AI as input. The MindLift AI translations are independent renderings produced from the source-language text alone.
Where the App refers to a teacher, lineage, or modern tradition by name (for example, the Iyengar lineage, the Kundalini Yoga tradition, modern trauma-informed practice), such references are factual or descriptive and do not reproduce or derive from any specific copyrighted modern publication.
The classical commentary traditions referenced in support of MindLift's AI commentary (Vyasa on the Yoga Sutras, the Tamil Siddhar oral lineage, classical Hatha texts such as the Hatha Yoga Pradipika and the Gheranda Samhita, the Upanishads, etc.) are themselves public domain.
If you believe any specific entry in MindLift inadvertently reproduces a copyrighted translation or commentary, please contact us at the address in Section 14 and we will investigate and remove or revise the entry promptly.
Some screens display short quotations attributed to named modern figures (e.g., authors, teachers, scientists, public figures). These are used as brief attributed quotations for educational and inspirational commentary, in accordance with standard fair-use / fair-dealing principles for short attributed quotations in commentary contexts. If you are the rights-holder for a quotation reproduced in the App and you would like it removed or differently attributed, please contact us at the address in Section 14.
Output produced live by the Wisdom Hub chatbot, daily wisdom rotations, journaling prompt suggestions, mood-insight summaries, and other in-app AI-generated text is created on demand by a third-party AI inference service. It is provided to you under the same personal-use licence as the rest of the App. MindLift does not warrant the originality, accuracy, or non-infringement of live AI-generated output — see Sections 6 and 8.
You retain ownership of any content you create within the App (journal entries, notes, goals, voice transcriptions). Because this content stays on your device, MindLift makes no claim of ownership over it.
The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or accuracy of content.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, MindLift, its developers, officers, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of or inability to use the App.
In jurisdictions that do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or limitation of liability, the above limitations may not apply to you. In such cases, our liability is limited to the amount you paid for the App in the 12 months prior to the claim, or the maximum permitted by law, whichever is less.
If you are a consumer in Australia, the following applies:
Our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. For major failures with the service, you are entitled to:
You are also entitled to choose a refund or replacement for major failures with goods. If a failure with the goods or a service does not amount to a major failure, you are entitled to have the failure rectified in a reasonable time. If this is not done, you are entitled to a refund for the goods and to cancel the contract for the service and obtain a refund of any unused portion. You are also entitled to be compensated for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage from a failure in the goods or service.
Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any consumer rights or guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded.
You agree to indemnify and hold MindLift harmless from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses arising from:
We may suspend or terminate your access to the App at any time, with or without notice, for any reason including violation of these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the App ceases. Provisions related to intellectual property, disclaimers, and limitation of liability survive termination.
We may update these Terms. The "Last Updated" date at the top will reflect changes. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance.
These Terms are governed by the laws of Australia (state of Queensland), without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any disputes will be resolved in the competent courts of Queensland, Australia, except that you may bring claims in your local jurisdiction if required by your local consumer-protection laws.
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full effect.
